Read All About It
Ever since I was little, I have always loved to read. It is one of my favorite things in the whole entire world. When I was younger, I would carry around books in both of my hands instead of a blanket or a stuffed animal. I would also nibble on the corners of my books. Due to this, a lot of my books from childhood are missing corners.
As I am getting older, I have carried my love of reading with me. Whenever I have freetime, I will always make sure to pick up a book and read. I love that by picking up a book, I can transport myself into millions of different lives. Whether it be school, work, doing homework, or hanging with friends I will always make time for a good book.
F*ck Cancer
Cancer has greatly impacted my family. It is one of the worst things in the whole entire world. My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October of 2015. If you didn't know, pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly cancers, but also one of the least funded. It is so deadly due to the fact that by the time it is discovered, it is too late. My dad sadly lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on September, 9, 2016. This was during my freshman year of high school. I miss him so much and I think about him every single day.
I thought that my family would be done with cancer. This did not end up being the case. It was during winter break. It was two days after my birthday and one day after my mom's birthday. She came in to the bedroom to tell me some devestating news. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She found out in early December, but waited to tell me after our birthdays as not to ruin the happy holidays. When she told me, I was in shock. What are the odds that both of my parents end up with cancer? My mom would have been diagnosed sooner, but the doctor missed it on a scan. She is currently going through chemotherapy and is the strongest person that I know. I hope that one day treatment and detection options get better and better so mistakes like these aren't made. I hope no one else ever has to go through this.
